Friendly, flexible specialist tutoring in Devizes

My name is Emma Groom and I set up Devizes Tutoring to provide tailored tuition services for your child, in Devizes and the surrounding area.

I offer far more than just private tuition. I don't just prepare children for passing an exam or catching up with schoolwork. I nurture confident, independent learners – children who will be prepared to meet challenges in school and beyond.

One- to-One

Every one of my students is important to me. Above all, I want your child to feel confident, brave about trying new ideas and to have fun so that they will remember all that they have studied. Of course I want your child to do well too, but this is because I know how important success is in fuelling esteem. Using a variety of methods tailored to each individual child, they will be willing to try new things and flourish.

I aim to put every child at ease; a one-to-one session is a test in itself because there is no one else to help out with the difficult questions but there is no one else there to make judgements either, and your child will feel comfortable talking about the topics that are not so easy, or asking for something to be explained again.

I aim to be extremely versatile, ensuring that I suit different children's needs. You could choose a weekly one hour session, an hour every few days leading up to entrance exams or SATs or you could choose a more intensive holiday course where I could stay for a longer session, perhaps returning on several consecutive days. I will discuss what’s best for your child, considering their targets and needs.

As a fully qualified teacher, with years of experience and lots of different resources, I plan carefully to help your child in all areas of study. I will always consider other factors like the way your child likes to learn; mind maps are great for visual learners, for example, so I will incorporate appropriate strategies in the session encouraging your child to connect with and then memorise information more easily.
